Did you know about the dangers of soft drinks? People who consumed soft drinks twice or more a week were at greater risk for pancreatic cancer. This fact merupakaan research conducted on 60,000 people in Singapore by the University of Minnesota, as quoted by Reuters.
"Sugar to be ringleaders. However, people who drink regular sweetened soda often have other habits are bad for health," said Chairman of Research Mark Pereira of the University of Minnesota.
According to these researchers, high levels of sugar in soft drinks can increase the insulin in the body that stimulate the growth of pancreatic cancer cells. Insulin is a pacemaker made of sugar production in the pancreas.
In the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention, Pereira and colleagues said that he monitored 60,524 men and women in the Singapore Chinese Health Study for 14 years. During that time, the developing pancreatic cancer in 140 volunteers. Those who drank soft drinks twice a week or more at risk for pancreatic cancer 87 percent higher.
Pancreatic cancer is one type of deadly cancer with 230,000 cases in the world. As many as 37,680 Americans diagnosed with this cancer type affected, including 34,290 people died. In fact, according to The American Cancer Society, the possibility of a five-year life of the pancreatic cancer patients is only about 5 percent.
Susan Mayne of the Yale Cancer Center, Yale University in Connecticut also said similar things.
"Although this study found the risk, discovery based on a small number of cases and leaves the question of whether it is a combination of causal or not," said Mayne, who worked in the journals published by the American Association for Cancer Research.
Mayne added, consumption of soft drinks in Singapore are also associated with adverse health effects of smoking activity and red meat consumption is out of control. Meanwhile, other studies linking pancreatic cancer with consumption of meat is burned or charred. Not only that, some researchers believe that high sugar intake triggers cancer.
